Tap Classes

Tap is fantastic for helping improve your balance, ankle stability, loading your joints (which helps improve bone strength) as well as improving your cognitive function and working memory.

Plus our adult tap classes are just so much fun! After a warm up, in a typical class you will learn a few exercises to work on tap vocabulary steps, followed by turning steps, time steps, all leading into a routine that you will work on across the term.

Class Descriptions and Timetable

Beginners level

We are hoping to add Beginners level adult tap classes into our timetable very soon- watch this space!

Improvers level

Suitable for those who did tap as a child or have already attended adult tap classes for about a year and have mastered some of the basic steps. The class introduces more complicated technical steps as well as combining different steps in longer sequences. As a rough guide, if you can perform shuffle time steps, then you are ready for this level. 

Tuesdays, 6.45-7.45pm, The Dance Studio at Oathall Community College

Wednesdays, 6.45-7.45pm, All Saints Centre, Lewes

Intermediate level

For people who have several years' experience of tap dancing. The class works at a much quicker pace and dancers are learning steps that are Grade 5 level and upwards.  

Wednesdays, 7.45-8.45pm, All Saints Centre, Lewes

Thursdays, 7-8pm, The Dance Studio at Oathall Community College
