My Time To Dance is an exciting new dance school exclusively for adults, with classes across Sussex; locations include Haywards Heath, Lindfield, Plumpton, Barcombe and Lewes.
Our aim to create a welcoming, inclusive environment where adults can learn new skills, enjoy doing something for their own physical and mental wellbeing, meet like-minded people, and perhaps re-ignite their passion for dancing that they enjoyed as a child/young person.
Co-directors Lianne Carter and Nisa Carter collectively have over 40 years' dance teaching experience and hold professional dance teaching qualifications with the RAD and ISTD. All our staff bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to their dance classes, for example, Nisa, Jess and Alice are all Silver Swans Licensed Teachers. See our 'About Us' page for more information about each of our fantastic teachers.
Please use the sections below to find out more about the different styles of dance class we offer and the different levels. If you need help or advise when choosing a class, do not hesitate to reach out via email, message us on social media, or give us a call.
We look forward to meeting you in the dance studio soon!

"My adult ballet class is the highlight of my week! The class is warm and welcoming, inclusive and utterly joyous. The choreography is beautiful to dance and there is also a lovely social aspect to the classes too. Having danced as a child, it’s so wonderful to find such a special dance school as an adult to continue my love of dance!
"I absolutely love my adult ballet and adult tap classes that are supportive, engaging and inclusive. It is great to keep dancing and learning new exercises and routines in a fun and encouraging environment with other like-minded people. The teachers are incredible and help to develop each student. I would 100% recommend!

A. Unfortunately we are not able to offer pay-as-you-go options for our classes. Our teachers and venues have to be booked in advance, and to ensure class viability, we require a termly commitment. This also aligns with the idea behind our classes; they are not just drop-in exercise classes, instead, by committing to attend a regular weekly class you will improve and progress as a dancer.
However, we do offer the opportunity for people to attend suitable alternative classes within our timetable to make up for classes that they have missed, and if you are a shift worker (e.g. NHS or airlines) please get in touch to ask about special arrangements we can offer you.
We want you to be comfortable, so please just wear something you can easily dance in (e.g. sports leggings and a T-shirt). Please do not worry about buying ballet/tap shoes before you trial, just wear socks for a ballet trial and trainers or a low-heeled boot for tap trials. We can advise you on the best place to purchase ballet/tap shoes once you enrol.
Absolutely! We have three different levels of adult ballet and tap classes; Beginners, Improver and Intermediate, as well as Silver Swans adult ballet classes for over 50s or those who prefer a gentler pace. Our conditioning and jazz classes are general level and are suitable for beginners.
If you have previous experience of ballet/tap, but are coming back to it after a long break, an Improvers level class is what we usually suggest.
Please see the pages for each dance style for more information on the different levels of class, and do get in touch if you would like advice on which level would be most suitable for you.
You can book a trial of any of our classes for just £10, which is credited against your first term's fees if you enrol with us. Our termly fees are £113 for hour-long classes, £130 for 75-minute classes, and £145 for 90-minute classes, with each term being 11 lessons. Termly fees are spread over three or four monthly payments using a secure payment system called GoCardless. This helps spread the payment for customers and the feedback is that this is highly beneficial. If you decide that you no longer wish to continue with a class, we ask for 6-weeks notice to withdraw from a class, as this enables us to plan for the following term, ensuring all the classes are viable to continue, and to book venues and teachers in advance.
